Is there a difference between the creoles?
With our creoles you can make many fine earring designs. We have them in sterling silver, gold-plated sterling silver and in gold-plated and silver-plated brass, in sizes from 12-38 mm.
There is a difference between our creoles, both in terms of functionality and durability. If you want to make a pair of earrings that you want to last for a few years, we recommend that you choose our hoops made of sterling silver or gold-plated sterling silver.
The gold-plated sterling silver hoops have a gold coating that will wear off over time, but our experience is that they keep the gold color for one and a half to two years.
If you want to make earrings where small glass beads are placed directly on the creole, it is a good idea to buy the creoles which do not have a 90 degree bend at one end, as the beads cannot get past that bend.
Sometimes you can have success reducing the angle of the bend with flat-nose pliers, but there is a slight risk of breaking the thread the creole is made of. Then if you want to be sure, buy creoles without a bend at one end. You make the bow yourself at the end, when you have got all the beads you want on the creole.
