Tool for figures of eight
The "eights" technique is a really good basic technique to know. It can be used to chain stones together or to make pendants from pierced stones and pearls.
You use a metal wire when making the figure of eight and you can see how to do it in our little video "DIY 8-TAL" under highlights on our Instagram profile.
To be able to perform this technique, three different pliers are needed:
Round pliers
With the round pliers, you bend what will become the eyelet, so that the figure of eight can be chained together with another figure of eight or can be hung on one earring, necklace or bracelet.
Pliers
The flat-nose pliers are used to straighten your winding and possibly to hold onto your workpiece while making the windings.
Biting forceps
The nippers allow you to cut off the rest of your metal wire as close to the windings as possible, so that there is nothing that bristles and can scratch or get stuck in clothes and hair.
The beadspinner makes it a breeze
Our bead spinners are made of the most delicious wood and make it a breeze to do bead work with our small glass beads, where you have to use many of the same kind or if you are making a bead mix that must come on the string in completely random order.
Load beads into the bead spinner, thread with the hooked needle provided. If you are making pearl flowers, you can bend the tip of your metal wire so it works as a needle. Spin and whoop!
The beads will be guided onto your thread all by themselves. With the bead spinner, you will want to make many long bead chains and large bouquets of pearl flowers. Try it before your neighbor!
