What customers say about Beadhouse
Make your jewelry flexible with a chain extender
A chain extender makes your jewelery more flexible. Replace the chain link at the end of your necklace or bracelet with a chain extender and you will have a piece of jewelry that can be used in several ways.
With a chain extender, you can style your necklaces more easily, as you can decide for yourself where on the chain extender the lock is attached. A chain extender can also give your handmade jewelery a more finished and exclusive look.
See our selection on this page and if you are missing locks that fit, you can find them here.
What material should the chain extender be in?
If you want a chain extender that will last a long time, buy our chain extenders in sterling silver or gold-plated sterling silver.
If you are more into changing jewelery quickly and would like to renew your jewelery box several times a year, you can use our chain extenders made of gold-plated or silver-plated brass which cost less.
How to install a chain extender?
Our chain extenders have an open end jump ring. You can open this jump ring with two flat nose pliers and put it on your necklace so that it is extended by up to 6.5 cm.
Remember to open jump ring with a movement where one hand moves backwards and the other hand forwards. If you open the eel net by pulling the opening apart by pulling outwards, the eel net will be lost both its shape and its resilience.
If you need to attach the chain extender to a pearl chain with wire, you can pull the wire through the end jump ring. If the thread is very thin, you can advantageously use French wire, so that the thread does not slip out of the opening of the eyelet.
